The Artist
Hello, I'm Hannah. I live on the North Cornwall coast and I paint intense, atmospheric and playful oil paintings; specialising in individual portraits, family gatherings, and friendship groups.
My work reflects the unique perspective shaped by my rural childhood in the Westcountry, and teenage years living completely off-grid, where growing up by candlelight and a 'back to basics' lifestyle had a profound influence on my art.
I worked with a private healthcare company in Zurich for five years working alongside a therapist providing personal portraits for clients, as part of a unique theraputic practice. I explore emotional intimacy and the subtlety of making personal connections. By removing people from their modern surroundings and placing them into a darker setting, these characters raise and answer questions through composition, narrative, and symbolism without the context of time or place.
I have been self employed as an artist since 2012, while raising a family in Cornwall. I have sold internationally and exhibited in Switzerland, France, Cornwall, Devon and at Castle Fine Art in Mayfair, at the London Invitational in 2022.
